Introduction and Hook

Begin the lesson by discussing common symptoms of being sick, such as fever, headache, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and tiredness. Engage students by asking if they have ever experienced these symptoms.

Introduce the importance of communicating with an adult when feeling unwell. Discuss how adults can help and why it's important to seek their guidance.

Direct Instruction

Explain the role of a doctor in diagnosing and treating illnesses. Discuss what happens during a doctor's visit and how doctors help us get better.

Introduce the body's response to sickness as a way of fighting off germs. Explain how symptoms are signs that the body is working to get better.

Guided Exploration

Watch the video 'When We Get Sick' to understand how to care for oneself during illness. The video emphasizes rest, hydration, nutrition, and hygiene as key recovery strategies.

Hands-On Activity

Have students create a 'Sick Day Plan' outlining steps they would take if they felt unwell, including who they would inform and what activities they would avoid.
